Massage Therapy

The stress of everyday life takes a toll on the body. Self-care can be the last thing on our long list of to-dos.  But what is more important than treating our faithful servant, the body to a restorative time out?

Welcome to my sacred healing space, where what your body needs most is given my full attention. Get cozy on my a warm, soft massage table, with heated packs to soothe your sore muscles. Calming music and pure essential oils take you into a journey of deep relaxation.

My massage style blends long, flowing strokes, as well as precise deep muscle tissue work to effectively release areas of pain and tension. Pressure of massage can range from lighter touch to very deep, according to your needs and comfort level.  I integrate the whole body, include passive stretching and energy healing to inspire tranquility and inner centering.  The massage modalities I practice include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone Massage, Reiki, and Core Synchronism.

Swedish Massage is the style of massage that is most commonly practiced by massage therapists. Swedish massage uses five styles of strokes: effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving circulation and lymph flow. My style of massage is influenced by my training at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA.  Esalen Swedish massage is known for its uniquely relaxing long forearm strokes up and down the length of the muscles, working the back and front of the body simultaneously, and seeing the body as an interconnected whole.

Deep Tissue Massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of deep tissue massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling and whether you need a change of pressure. If you find yourself tensing up against the pressure or unable to breathe fully, that is an indication that the pressure is too deep.  Optimal pressure is when you are able to relax and breathe deeply into the pressure and it feels relieving and good.  "No pain, no gain" is not the motto when it comes to massage!

Reiki is a method of intuitive energy healing which provides deep relaxation, peace, and powerful healing to the body, mind and spirit. A reiki treatment consists of laying the hands on the body and allowing the energy of life to flow through the hands to wherever it is needed.  Sometimes images or messages from spirit come to me or my clients during reiki sessions.  Though gentle, reiki is also profoundly powerful, and can assist us in our path to greater empowerment, soul integration, and letting go of what does not serve us.

Core Synchronism is an energy therapy similar to cranial sacral therapy, originating in cranial osteopathy and polarity therapy. This method works with the rhythmic motion of the cerebral spinal fluid to restore harmony and balance, calm the nervous system, and inspire the body's innate capacities toward healing and pain relief.  Core synchronism can be very helpful in relieving headaches, working gently with injuries, soothing emotional stress, and assisting in restoration and healing.

For deep therapeutic benefits, try a Heated Stone Massage.  Smooth river stones which have been heated in water are massaged over the body, integrated into a therapeutic massage session.  The warmth penetrates and soothes sore muscles, allowing me to work more deeply.  Receiving a hot stone massage is like entering a meditative retreat into a womb of warmth, leaving you to feel relaxed and renewed.

I also offer a method called Core Alignment, a clothes-on method that uses gentle circular movements and light pressure to bring structural alignment to the spine, neck, shoulders, and hips, alleviating pain and freeing up areas of restriction.

I use all natural Sacred Earth massage cream.  It is a nut-free, hypo-allergenic, vegan blend of organic oils rich in essential fatty acids, combined with calming, anti-inflammatory botanicals.

Young Living essential oils are incorporated (if desired) into massage sessions.  Pure essential oils provide the healing benefit of plant medicine to soothe sore muscles, decrease inflammation, calm the nervous system, or balance emotions.  I have many different single oils as well as blends that I use in my massage practice.

Offering healing touch is one of my greatest loves in life, and each time I give a massage, I am honored and grateful to be of service providing relaxation, pain relief, healing energy, and loving presence.
